“When thinking about my experience being Black in America, it’s been great and challenging. I can say this because I have lived in the country and out of the country. Of course, racism and other factors contribute to this, however, I don’t think I would want to live anywhere else. You should know that I was born in this America, and I am a productive citizen. I am someone’s daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. When I talk with passion, excitement, or am a little loud, I am not angry. Please treat me how you want to be treated. It will make for a better America.”
