“For me, I feel that I find myself in situations where I am forced to be the spokesperson for Black people, and I have to define slang and culture for people around me. It’s very irritating. I only know how I, personally, feel about things… I can’t speak for an entire group of people. Also, sometimes it feels like, as a black male, there’s an invisible target on me. It’s there, I just can’t see it. And because it’s there, I have to be extra careful with the decisions that I make. Sometimes it doesn't seem fair. I just want to be a young person.”
