“As a biracial person, belonging has been a lifelong struggle. Growing up with the white side of my family while attending a predominantly black high school, I felt a constant pressure to prove my blackness to my peers. It wasn't until I attended college that I came to embrace the nuanced nature of my identity and reject the concept of 'choosing a side'. I am not a black American, nor am I a white American. I'm both, all at once, always.”
