“If I could tell the world one thing, it would be that my race doesn’t define me. Is it a characteristic of my being? Of course, but so is having a heart for people, being a proud Kenyan, and most importantly, being a follower of Christ. Do people get to see those characteristics right off the bat? No. However, I long for the day where being Black in America can mean more than what the media portrays it to be. Until then, I’ll continue to walk this walk, love those around me, and be proud of the fact that I am a black man in a predominantly white culture. That’s all I can do.”
